M.Sc. Student & Researcher
Physics & Astronomy (Astrobiology)
I am a masters student at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. My areas of research include exoplanets, mantle-atmosphere coupling, and the origins of life. I am supervised by Dr. Ralph Pudritz.
My research experience ranges from Bayesian analysis of exoplanet transits to paleontology field work in the badlands of Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta. Currently, I am working with the PROTEUS framework to simulate the evolution of coupled atmospheres and interiors on rocky planets, with the ultimate goal of determining what kinds of planets can produce life. I am particularly interested in the way that mantle chemistry drives the production of atmospheric methane and HCN, which subsequently react to form the building blocks of life (amino acids, nucleobases, RNA).
I am an author and editor for Astrobites, and a science communicator at the William J. McCallion Planetarium. I am a former varsity rower who still likes to work out, and a former improv club president who still likes to make people laugh.
